You Are Unique

Why is it you think you have to be like everyone else? Sure, we all have improvements we could make to fine tune who we are, but the obsession of trying to be something other than what we were designed to be is exhausting.
I want you to realize that you are not Paula or Chuck or Jane…you are you. God had only “you” in mind when your little body and mind were being formed in your mom’s womb. YOU are fearfully and wonderfully made.
You are complex with ideas and talents that are unique to only you. It stands to reason that your talents will bless those around you only if you allow them to rise to the top and flourish.
If you are constantly trying to be like Jane or Sally or Tom or Harry, those gifts will stay hidden. Maybe you will resemble those you hang with every day but never forget who designed you and that He has a purpose for your life.
We are all called to be a witness for Jesus. How we do this is determined by our availability and willingness to share our unique life and our unique experience with others. Jesus made us all different, yet loves us all the same, and it is His story that we share.
Don’t shy away from being “quirky” or “sophisticated” or “down to earth” or “well versed” or “just plain ole fashioned”. You are unique. Be understandable but be yourself.
Psalm 139:13-14,16 NLT
[13] You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. [14] Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it. [16] You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
