Walking the Faith Line

Johnny Cash had a song out many years ago that came to mind today. It is about a relationship that he wanted to protect by staying on track. Here is a verse…read it and think about your relationship with the Lord.

“I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

I keep my eyes wide open all the time

I keep the ends out for the tie that binds

Because you're mine, I walk the line”

The faith walk is staying aware of your relationship with Jesus and protecting it. As today’s scripture shows us, he’s already made it plain what He is looking for in us. Be fair and just. Be compassionate and loyal. Take God seriously.

Be consistent and intentional in walking the line for Jesus. To keep your faith strong, it should be a daily walk, not just a “now and then” kind of occurrence. Imagine if you treated your family and friend relationships the way you do your time with Jesus?

When the Bible says “pray without ceasing” it means that as you go about your day, you stay connected to God. If you did that, your faith walk would be amazing. Your heart would stay in the right place. Your eyes would be wide open to the blessings that the Lord showers on you every single day. You become aware of the “love tie” that binds your heart with His. You begin to cherish every moment spent in His presence.

[8] But he's already made it plain how to live, what to do, what GOD is looking for in men and women. It's quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don't take yourself too seriously- take God seriously.
