When you stop to think in your mind’s eye about how your life is going, what do you see? Are you seeing struggles galore? Today's verses give a variety of different situations that could be troubling some of you.
Notice what is said in verse 5 and then again in verse 7. “Consider your ways!” Why do you suppose we need to do this? Why would you take a look at what you are doing on a daily basis? One answer would be “what you do on a regular basis is what you become!” Another is “what you think is what you will do!”
You’ve heard it said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". If you keep sowing and not reaping; if you keep going to the grocery store but can’t afford to purchase enough to eat or drink; you have to adjust your thermostat to afford the utilities but continue to stay cold in winter and hot in summer and you keep going to a job that isn’t providing enough to live on…something needs to change. It is time to consider what you need to do differently.
First and foremost is putting God first in all we do. He should be on our mind as we put our feet on the floor every morning, throughout the day and when we lay our head on the pillow in the evening. Making sure that our plans are His plans. Our will lines up with His will. If these things are not happening, consider the need for change.
If money is tight, life can be really difficult. Take a look at what could change there. Sometimes it is just a matter of finding someone you trust offering you the right opportunity. Don’t shut yourself off from those types of things just because you are stubborn. Where is stubborn getting you?
Think about your life and make the needed changes…don’t go insane. Try something different.
Haggai 1:5-7 NKJV
[5] Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: "Consider your ways! [6] "You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes." [7] Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Consider your ways!
