The Right Perception

If you are like most people, you tend to “jump to a conclusion” before you know all the facts of a situation. We think (which is pretty ridiculous) that we already know the answer before a question has even been asked. We’ll say things like “we know we are right” because (God forbid) we are ever wrong.

A quote that I read recently says. “We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.” Woah! That puts things at a whole other level. We have got to realize (and it would save us some grief) that when we are looking at something, we may not have all the facts. We are only seeing them the way we perceive them to be.

Below is an example of perceived versus reality.

“A man got on his morning train like he did every day. He had his coffee and was so happy to be alone to read. At the next stop a man got on the train with his three little children. The kids started running up and down the aisle and were incredibly loud. Having taken more than he could stand, the man asked the father to control his children. The father, barely able to speak, told the man that they had come from the hospital where the children's mother had just passed away. He said that the children didn't know how to process what had just happened and nor could he.”

May we all be more willing to see things differently. We are NOT ALWAYS right. We may perceive that we are, but that doesn’t mean we are the queen and king of perfection.

In Isaiah 26:3 we are admonished to trust in God and keep all our thoughts fixed on Him. When we do that regularly, we will begin to see things the way He sees them. Now that right there will be the right perception.

Matthew 7:4-5 NLT

[4] How can you think of saying to your friend, 'Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye? [5] Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
