The Give Factor

When you are a generous person, one who gives with a happy contented heart, life becomes different. Also, how about the fact that “God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” You may say you give to God and others regular, but when you do, what is your attitude towards that giving?

I heard a story of a lady (let’s call her Sally) who had a neighbor who was struggling and her kids needed clothing. Sally had compassion for her neighbor and was shown by “giving” some beautiful clothes to this neighbor.

The day after Sally had blessed them with the clothes, she saw the little girl outside playing in the dirt in a beautiful “Sunday go to meetin” dress. This caused the “giver” (Sally) to become angry that her gift was not used for the purpose of what “she” had intended.

Well, did Sally really cheerfully “give” to her neighbor out of love, or did she “give” with rules (in her mind) that should be followed. She allowed the devil to steal her joy of giving. Sally was of the opinion that she had done this great thing, and it became about her.

It is time for a “shakedown” in how you give so that your blessings can be overflowing to the point that you have to press them down and shake them together to make room for more. Now that is how it’s done right there.

Don’t allow that stinking devil to mess with how or what you give. Keep your attitude right. Be happy and content as you give to God and others. When you bless others, you WILL be blessed.

Luke 6:38 NLT

[38] Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full-pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back."
