The Best Kind of Power & It's Not Just for Girls

We’ve talked before about how hard it is to discern between who is shooting straight with you. There are times when what they are saying is so convincing, we think they are surely telling us the truth.
That is what we are warned against in 1st John 4. But we have a “one up” on these folks. We belong to God and have the power and wisdom of the Spirit-the best kind of power ever to help us.
The Spirit that lives within you is far greater than anything out there. No matter how convincing someone may be, run it through your Spirit filter.
The viewpoint of the world is just that, “worldly”. Those that live according to that way of thinking will try to sway you, their direction. Don’t let them. Be strong and use that power within you to discern what is right and true.
1 John 4:4-6 NLT
[4] But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. [5] Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world's viewpoint, and the world listens to them. [6] But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception.
