Take a Breath

So many people live right on the edge. Their life is ruled by ao many strong emotions, they can’t just relax and breathe for a moment. In other words, “they stay all fired up…all the time.” I would think living in such a way would cause your nerves to be frayed most all the time.
A friend of mine used to hold one finger above her head and say to folks that were irritating her, “This is my last nerve, and you are on it!” She said it in a joking way which made it easier to take, but you also knew, steer clear. Haha. She was a funny and wonderful lady who made me laugh more than anyone else at my workplace.
Imagine though, if you were ALWAYS on “your last nerve” (so to speak). What if you never took the time to enjoy peace in your life?
What if instead of focusing in what angers you, you began to pray about everything? What if you began to tell God about the things you need in your life, and thanked Him for the things that you have?
The scripture tells us that when we do those things, we can begin to experience peace. The kind of peace that guards our minds. It controls that fire of anger and bitterness because we are living in God’s peace.
Take a breath and allow His calming Spirit to do a good work in your heart and mind.
Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
[6] Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. [7] Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
