Strong and Pure

When something is considered “pure”, it is not contaminated or polluted. It is a “state of being” that we should all desire in our hearts and lives. Along with that is being steadfast (strong and loyal) in our commitment to be close to God.
A scripture that I consider to be essential to the Christian Walk is found in Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a steadfast spirit within me.” This verse was how David showed his sorrow for the pain he had inflicted by having committed adultery and the sin of trying to cover it up. He had caused such pain for another family. He was humbly praying for a clean heart, one that was brand spanking new.
David also wanted his life to be steadfast and loyal to Gods leading. He knew that he would need strength and need to be committed to doing right and living right in Gods eyes.
Our verse today reveals how this can be accomplished for each of us. When you are tempted to do wrong and sinful things, realize this is from the devil. Then “resist” him. We are told when we do this, he flees from you. Exercise your Spirit within you and just tell him, “Get out of here, you have no place in my life!” He has to move on because you gave him no place to reside.
Continue to stay humble (the opposite of haughty), love God and pray for purity in your life. Don’t let the contamination of the world infiltrate your world. Resist all the negative forces tossed your way.
James 4:7 NLT
[7] So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
