Shake the Fake

Fake people are the worst. You never really know where you stand with them. They may “pretend” from time to time they care about you and things that you care about, but in their heart of hearts they are selfish and are seeing how they can use you or pacify you.
There is a line in a Russ Taff song that really nails what we have to do on the daily, “break the fact from the fake”. We need to do this from our prospective and the perception of those around us.
Thank goodness God has never faked His love for us. He continues to love us with an everlasting love. There is nothing phony about it. His love is so real, He gave His only Son to die in our place.
The Bible is clear on the instructions of real love. There is nothing fake about it. There is no pretending. The word “genuine” is used to describe your affection toward others. Different ways to say it would be unhypocritical; sincere; honest or truthful. How genuine are we with others? Ouch!
Then we see that we should be delighted when we “honor” each other. That’s a good one. When we honor someone else, we are holding them in high esteem. We respect them and value them.
Oh, how much better our relationships would be if we did those two things regularly.
*Freely give genuine affection
*Be happy in giving honor to others.
There are a couple of other things involved as well.
*Hold tightly to what is good
*Hate evil
When you genuinely love others and hate the ugliness of the superficial, these actions can’t help but ripple out into your circle of influence and make a huge difference. Be real!!
Romans 12:9-10 NLT
[9] Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. [10] Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
