If you have ever heard a motivational speaker, you have a slight understanding of what they are trying to accomplish in their speech. They are wanting to give you a positive reason to “get up and do” whatever you have been putting off. It speaks to people in different ways due to where they are in their lives.

We all encounter people with different personalities and experiences that either hold them back or push them forward. What we want to be is a “lifter”. Someone who raises others up and helps them see “all things are possible”. Give them words that help them see the good in the midst of the not so good.

Josh Groban had a song out a few years back that helps us see how being that positive force for someone can literally change their lives.

“When I am down and, oh, my soul, so weary

When troubles come and my heart burdened be

Then I am still and wait here in the silence

Until You come and sit awhile with me

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains

You raise me up to walk on stormy seas

I am strong when I am on Your shoulders

You raise me up to more than I can be”

Help others see the goodness of God and that He is the ultimate lifter. He lifts us out of the stuck places in our lives and puts us on His solid rock. That is motivation!
