Just Stand Still

Have you ever been around a “squirmy kid”? You hear it said to him over and over again, “Be still and listen Johnny!” Try as he might, Johnny will not sit still. He has so much he wants to do, and in his head, it is way more important than anything the adult is requesting from him.
We are so like that boy, Johnny. More than we care to admit, we go through life thinking we know better than God about our situation. We say over and over to ourselves, “This situation is awful, and is not going to get any better.” How foolish of us to even think or utter those words.
Think back to the story of the Israelites leaving Egyptian slavery. God had already shown His power in the wonders performed during the actual leaving the area through Moses and Aaron. He had provided for all their needs.
But there was still fear in the Israelite hearts when they approached the Red Sea. They became like “squirmy kids” in their crazy thoughts. They voiced their concern to Moses, and he told them. “Stand still and watch”. The Lord would again rescue them. He said, “just stay calm”. As we know, God did indeed take care of the situation at hand. They got across the Red Sea on dry land and the armies of Pharoah not so much.
When are we going to learn to really listen to the adult (God) in the room? God is ready to fight for us just like he did those many years ago for those “squirming Israelites”. He can change your outlook on your life in a second Just listen, watch and follow His lead.
Exodus 14:13-14 NLT
[13] But Moses told the people, "Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. [14] The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm."
