We have a tendency to look at things from the viewpoint of how we were raised. That is what we know and understand from our upbringing. The same was true for the Israelite people.

They had been taught that they were to present the burnt offerings of lambs, goats and cattle as a sacrifice for the wrongs they had committed. This in itself definitely was not wrong, it was the ceremony of it all that disgusted God. They had gotten caught up in the celebration, to the point of their prayers were not even being heard. Their prayers had become hollow and meaningless.

The Israelites needed a meaningful change in their lives. They mattered to God and He wanted to help them understand as we see in today’s verse. It didn’t matter how far they had strayed away from Him; He wanted them to eat from the BEST of the land.

Know this, the same is true for you. You matter to Him. If you’re caught up in wrong stuff; if you are going through the motions of “religious ceremonies” with no evidence of change…you CAN be different. Allow Him to bless you through your obedience to the way He desires you to be and do. See things His way and you WILL be blessed.
