Have you ever been around someone that is so stoic that they never shed a tear? They have been raised in in such a way to view crying as a sign of weakness. Oh contraire!

If that were the case, my mom would’ve been the weakest person around. She cried when she was sad; she cried when she was grieving; she cried when she was proud of her kids; she cried when she was happy…get the picture? These times of tears didn’t make her weak. It kept her grounded and empathetic to those around her. She was one of the strongest women I have ever known.

Tears are such a release, and in some ways wash away the hurt that has settled in your heart. Do you want to be in tears all the time? Of course not! But there are times when “the eyes will leak” and you feel relief. Don’t fight the tears, release them. It’s okay!

The Bible says there is a time for tears, but right after it says there is a time to laugh. Keep the balance that is found in Ecclesiastes…a season for every activity (and crying is one of them) under heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 NLT

[1] For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. [4] A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.
