Having Our Mind Set on Jesus

I am reading a book right now about “right believing”, so you will be seeing a lot of this theme in my devotionals for a while. It is so important to believe the right things about Jesus and about yourself.
The Samaritan woman had been shunned and looked down upon for so long, that when she needed to draw water from the well (the “community water cooler”), she waited until the heat of the day to do it. This way she avoided the “looks” and the “snide remarks” that I’m sure she had dealt with plenty of times before.
She knew that the Jews just didn’t talk to her as a Samaritan woman with her shaded past and current living condition. So, when Jesus met her at the well and asked her for water, imagine her surprise. He knew all about her and didn’t condemn her but offered her living water.
This encounter changed her life. Her mind became set on Jesus, not on the shame of who she was. She was no longer ashamed to speak to anyone, even those that she had previously avoided. She had to share with them how Jesus knew everything about her and still loved her and shared the living water with her.
He knew her heart and her mind and loved her. It changed the way she looked at herself and gave her the grace and strength she needed to share with abandon what Jesus shared with her. Isn’t that just the coolest thing?
John 4:9-10 TPT
[9] Surprised, she said, "Why would a Jewish man ask a Samaritan woman for a drink of water?" [10] Jesus replied, "If you only knew who I am and the gift that God wants to give you-you'd ask me for a drink, and I would give to you living water." #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
