Be Intentionally Aware

What do I mean by being aware? It is a matter of noticing what is really going on with those around you.
In the book by Andy Andrews, “The Noticer”, something that stuck with me was the idea of “intention”. We have to intentionally be aware of those around us and show we care. As Andy puts it, “Intention without action is an insult to those who expect the best from you.”
Even in church, you need to realize the person next to you could be facing brokenness in their lives that no one is aware of…but them. They may seem to have it all together but could be just playing the game of “I must look the part.” The problem is, they have become fluent in the “Christian Lingo” but are silently suffering.
Because we don’t know someone’s heart and “secret sufferings”, we need to always be kind and show love and compassion to those around us. Be honest and intentional. We would want the same if we had things that were hurting us to our core.
If you are one of those with hidden brokenness, the Lord is there and is willing to rescue you. The Message Bible has a way with words, today’s scripture says it this way: “If your heart is broken, you'll find GOD right there; if you're kicked in the gut, he'll help you catch your breath.”
Be aware of those that feel as though they have been “kicked in the gut”. Be intentionally sweet to them and show them the love of Jesus.
Psalm 34:18 NLT
[18] The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
